Below you will find a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding security screening at Fuerteventura Airport.
Why can I buy any drink with a volume of more than 100 ml inside the airport and take it on the plane but not one bought outside?
When travelling, you can purchase beverages with a volume of over 100 ml from airport shops located after the security checkpoint and take them on the plane. In simple terms, these beverages have already passed the necessary security checks as regulated by the European Union. However, if you buy beverages before going through the security checkpoint or outside the airport, you will not be able to bring them on your flight.
Have you ever wondered what happens to all the items that are confiscated at security checkpoints?
When dealing with items considered waste, metal objects such as knives, razors, and scissors are subjected to a melting process. Aerosols are classified as hazardous waste and are managed in accordance with environmental regulations. Liquids are safely disposed of, and their packaging is recycled. Consequently, when packing, it’s crucial to place items in your checked luggage that would otherwise be confiscated at the security checkpoint in order to successfully pass through.
Why are you asked to remove your belt before security screening?
To ensure a smooth and efficient security screening process for all passengers, please remember that belts and some types of shoes may set off alarms in the metal detectors, leading to a manual inspection or requiring the items to be screened through the hand baggage scanner.
