Fuerteventura Airport, also known as El Matorral Airport, is located five kilometres southwest of Puerto del Rosario, the capital city of Fuerteventura. In 2025, passenger numbers at Fuerteventura Airport reached a record 6.88 million, continuing an upward traffic trend from the 6 million travellers recorded in 2023. The airport has one terminal building with two floors, covering over 92,000 m2. The terminal itself boasts a contemporary design that reflects the airy and open nature of the island. Since its official opening on September 14, 1969, Fuerteventura Airport has undergone several improvements and expansions to accommodate the growing number of passengers and operations.

Served by over 35 major scheduled and charter airlines, the modern terminal is a vital hub for direct flights to Fuerteventura. International traffic is heavily led by passenger arrivals from Germany and the United Kingdom, alongside strong connections to wider European Union cities. Fuerteventura Airport flight departures also maintain frequent domestic and inter-island routes, offering daily direct services to Gran Canaria, Tenerife North, Madrid-Barajas, and Barcelona-El Prat.
